I guess the title of the threads says it all. I lately I have really really been considering getting some ducks. Not many. At least to probably no more than four. But just wanted to know if they can live with chickens. I’m very doubtful that the answer is yes but I figured I’d ask.

Sounds like introducing young chickens to older chickens. That’s refreshing to hear. Really been considering ducks but just spent months building a brand new chicken coop and extended run and was not really looking forward to adding a whole Nother area but would do it if I had to. It would just be a while . Thank you for the response. Is there any particular breed of duck that does better with others

And our ducks OK to free range. My set up would probably consist of my chicken coop a smaller duck house since there won’t be 18 ducks like there is chickens. But share the same run. My chickens free range after noon. Still have a lot of research to do on ducks before I decide. Like the ease or difficulty of handling them. And price involved in raising and caring for them

Mine are kept in a pen in my garage at night. In the morning we set them loose in the yard all day and when night comes they walk themselves into their pen and yell for food. My lone chicken just hangs out in the garage all day for some reason.. She will hqve a few ladies to hang out with soon though so maybe ill get her to venture outdoors lol.

I’m just afraid with a flock of 18 chickens they would gang up on the duck. Like I said still a lot of research to do before final decision making. My only hope is that they don’t realize across the woods there’s a real pond instead of a fake pond LOL. That happened to one of our neighbors once

Lol i havent had my muscovy drake try to mount my chicken yet but i dont think hed be able to catch her id suggest maybe 2 to 4 smaller breed ducks. I love my anconas. Runners are pretty neat too and khaki campbells are great egg layers like anconas.
