I have hens (chickens) and I would love to have some call ducks. They would have separate coops. My first thought was to get all girl calls. But I do live in a residential area. So I’m hesitant about the noise. Can a bachelor pad of drakes live peacefully next to my chickens? Or would that be a disaster?

Is there a way to not be the loudest backyard on the block, and keep my chickens safe? Or are call Ducks just not in the cards for me at the moment?

Welcome to BYC

I suggest call ducks are not the ducks for you in a residential neighborhood.

The quietest ducks are muscovy females and, IMHO, they are delightful. They could live alongside chickens if cooped separately. No drakes are safe with chickens as drakes are sex obsessed and their anatomy is not compatible with chickens.
