Would appreciate any and all suggestions on how to make these two co-exist. Thanks in advance

Some chickens lend themselves more to living in a garden. Small hens, like Pekins make good garden hens.
My five free range in my garden and I have no problems at all :)

I just wanted to be able to have both. Sadly, my girls are eating the leafs off of everything. I'm hoping my plants can survive until I can transplant them in September. I would hate to lose my raspberry and oriental lilies. I have continued to let my girls out because they need to free range and be a chicken part of the day

I have a very small garden. My chickens pretty much leave it alone unless I go out there while they are out (which I have learned not to do) because they follow me around. I couldn't tell you WHY they don't go that way, because the garden area is close to their coop and there is nothing keeping them out. They have always just gone back and forth to the yard from their coop. I think they are just trained to go to the yard because when they got old enough to free range I had to lead them to the yard the first few times, so that is the path they take.

ETA: By garden, I mean a overgrown jungle of tomato plants and few bell pepper and bean plants and a lonely corn stalk. I'm not the best vegetable gardener.

Lol your garden sounds wonderful compared to mine: a bare bit of soil destroyed by the slugs! Everything got eaten within a couple of days of planting it. The chickens never saw it.
