I got some boer meat goats earlier this year and put them on pasture inside poutlry netting. And it seems the shock did not deter them at all from trying to get through the netting and getting caught in it. So I had to pull them back to the barn and keep them in there.

does anyone out there have any images or thoughts of how to create a moveable pasture pen for say 4 to 6 goats to mow the pasture in front of the meat birds?

Thanks

Goats need a powerful shock to deter them, like 3 joules and up. Problem is the energizer needs to be AC in order to pull that kind of juice, so that will mean running something out to your pasture from the source.

Try a good polytape system with those plastic posts you can get at TSC. That will be plenty portable and the goats will be less likely to get caught up. I'm about to move my poultry netting into the pasture, but I want to make sure the polytape stops the goats first.

My charger for the fence is a 3 joule on 2 poultry nets. Way more then enough juice. So if any one has made moveable pens that they move with there trucks or 4 wheelers I would like to see them. This is pilot and would like to add more next year. As these are already sold.

I have my charger on a 31 series deep cycle battery with three poultry plus nets and our dairy goats are contained. We use them to clear poison ivy. The charge has lasted over 2 months and I am still getting 4k.

We use cattle panels with "heavy duty" clips to attach them to each other. We mostly use these in wooded areas, so there are trees to help support the panels, not sure how this would work in a pasture setting.
