My chickens are 12 months old and for a while were laying 3-4 from 4 chooks per day. Recently (summer time ) they have quitened down to 1 or 2 max per day. I have noticed lots of small feathers around and wonder if moulting effects laying. Apart from that, we let them out daily for an hour or 2 and give them lots of scraps to eat. Can what they eat make a difference to egg laying as they often will wait for scraps rather than pellets.???

When they molt or get sick, they stop laying.

My flock is just getting better, but I'm only getting 3-4 a day from 14 where I once got 10-12 a day.

Take away the treats and see how fast they like their pellets again. They need proper nutrition to lay well. If you go way overboard in the treats dept. it can affect laying.
