chickens and peanuts

My daughter wants to do a science fair project that looks at the effect of protein on egg production. In the experiment she will feed our chickens peanuts as a way to increase protein intake. I just want to be sure peanuts is a safe way to do this...does anyone know?

someone posted a chicken treat list somewhere on here. I dont know the link, but it lists many different foods that are safe for chicken consumption. Perhaps someone knows the thread that I am referring to.
