We are Ken and Franny , "trying" to retire in NW lower Michigan. Many projects entice us. We've raised several batches of chickens over the last 15 years both meat birds and layers. We get attached to our layers and roosters. The last chickens we raised was about 10 years ago until this spring when We got four hens and one wonderful rooster from a neighbor; got them acclimated, and they were laying really well. We had white, brown and blue eggs. And then the fox moved in or maybe it was a raccoon. We lost all five over three nights. We tried numerous patches and live traps, but he/she found our every weakness. Heartbroken. Now we are sticking with our quail. Does anyone else in the poultry group raise quail? We'd love to exchange ideas . And our current question is about clipping their wings. We have a flock of 90 5 week-olds, and are about to incubate 120 more eggs.
