chickens and root crops (potatoes and onions)

yall think chickens would bother the 2, i know they will trash a garden but would they mess up taters and onions bein there under ground? and foods they wouldnt eat?

mine totally ruined my onions. I thought the same thing, hey they're under ground the chickies cant bother them. Well, they didn't bother the bulbs but they ate all the tops off so they never grew

I've never had a problem with the chickens, but our sheep ate the tops of the shallots and garlic one spring. Then they came over to where I was weeding and burped in my face.

My chickens are always busy eating other things they must like better and trying to get more of the chard. Maybe onions are an individual taste preference? Fencing in the vegetable garden is always a good way to go, if you can.
