Chickens are better than dogs and cats

I have been made fun of beacause of how much I love chickens and because I post photos of them on facebook while at the same time people have dogs and cats at pets. Dogs are gross, smell bad, bark loudly at people or other living objects. Often they run to random people and start to bite them. Cats are beautiful and calm animals but recently we got a kitten and started to change my perception of these animals. He does more harm than good. He is running all around the house, scratching and biting everything and we have to constanly look after him. When I play with him he always try to bite me. I can't learn him not to bite. I am afraid to be around him and don't allow him to sit in my lap because he might bite me. He doesn't allow me to caress his back unless he's tired. Recently he bitten me so bad that it caused swelling. I have had chickens and had any problems. They have never pecked me or scratched me neither when they were little chicks nor when they were grown adults. They used to sit both on my right hand and on my lap and I was carresing their backs. They were ready at any time. I learned them not to peck each other while they are eating. Having a dog pet or a cat is useless and has more bad sides than good. Chickens are not only beautiful, but are incredibly friendly. They also lay eggs and you can feed them anything. They have no food preferences.

KIttens are very playful. Running, jumping, pouncing on things, catching with their claws, and biting - these are how they learn to be good hunters of mice and other little prey when they grow up. You can certainly get scratched if you play with your kitty with your hands. Buy a toy that has a feather on a string attached to a stick. Hold the stick and wiggle the feather. Let the kitten play with the feather. You will both have fun and you won't get scratched. After he plays a while and gets tired he may lie in your lap and take a nap. Then you can stroke his beautiful soft fur and he won't bite you.

I can definitely relate to being very interested in chickens (as I’m sure most people here can!) They’re such fun little guys. Like any animal, they have varying personalities and it’s so fascinating. As for dogs being aggressive and loud, it’s really on the owners to be a responsible pet owner and train their dog. It isn’t necessarily a “dogs are bad because…” situation; a lot of our canine friends are great, but sadly poor ownership can cause problems more often than not.

But, back to chickens: We love them! I definitely consider mine not only pets, but family too. And I don’t think you or anyone should be shamed by others for feeling that way, either. For me, chickens are and have always been such a comfort. The way their feathers feel (and smell! I looove the smell of their feathers), the way they sound, how they move, act, etc. They’re just the best.

Chickens are wonderful! You handled your chicks when they were little and trained them. Any pet animal takes work and training.

I do love my cats more than ....... (87'\w) apparently my olive egger, Olive wanted to protest that comment. I'm outside and she jumped up on the table and walked across my keyboard! I'm not sure what "87'/w" means in chicken. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Anyway, I still love my cats more. They live in the house and are very cuddly. And it's always sweet to wake up with them in the morning.
If chickens slept with me I'm sure there would also be a lot of chicken poop.

I'm pretty sure she's calling the chicken cops on you for saying such things. Lol

I think chickens, dogs, and cats, all make good pets for different reasons. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Maybe look up some online training resources for your kitten. There is a lot of info out there. One quick piece of advice I can give is to never make your body look like a toy to a cat. For example, don't wiggle your fingers to try to get them to pounce. They will only see you as something they can pounce on/scratch, which isn't bad when it's a small kitten, but gets bad as they get older. Set the boundary by using cat toys, strings, or laser pointers when playing with the cat.
