I put some fertilized eggs under my broody hen and of course the Naked Neck got in there with her to lay an egg and broke two of the fertilized ones. This happened last time too and I had to separate my broody. Why do they do this?! Am I an idiot? They aren't egg eaters normally just when I am trying to hatch apparently. Jerks.

They're not doing in on purpose. You seperate broody so for this reason.
I want to believe they aren't...I really do. But she is separated now so all is well. Just when she was sitting on their dud eggs all day no one broke any. 😑🤬 Jerks. I have been sick so it was hard to get out there and get everything set up just so and they took advantage.

The "dud" eggs are ceramic so they can't be broken. I'm sorry this happens to you. I also hope your feeling better soon.

that is strange. I hatch right in my coop and if mama is out for her break someone may go in there but noone has ever broken an egg before so it can be done. I wonder why yours are getting broken. Sorry you had to separate her but glad she is so that no more eggs get broken.
I have read that some people don't separate them and its fine so I was hoping. This broody is my boss hen and ironically she is the one that was breaking eggs when my last broody was sitting and so I had to separate that hen too. They chose two different spots so it's not the spot. So much chicken drama...

What jerks! Lol

Well she has been separated this whole time and still managed to murder three more eggs. Moving her and hoping she stays broody cause I think its the nesting box itself now.
