I have six chicks about 7 weeks old and they are afraid of me. When I first got them me and the kids whould hold them and feed them and talk to them. Now they are out in the coop, and we bring them treats and let them roam when we get home from work but when ever I try to hold them they run away. When I was first looking at getting chickens my neighbor who has over 20 hens would just walk up to his and they would squat and let him pick them up, is it just their age that my girls are scared of me ? will they come runnin' when i have a trreat or their feed? I have one that is pretty curious and will come up when I am sitting there watching but as soon as i Hold my hand out she darts away...

mine do that too..you just have to work with them on a daily basis...

I now only give them the "extra good" treats if the willingly jump in my lap when i am in their coop area...of if they let me pick them up without a fight: This is helping them to trust me more

Best Wishes,
Laura
