What a morning hubby got home at his normal time, right when I went to be which was 4am. He went to bed about an hour later then could not sleep. It is his weekend now. So at sunup he was mowing. Anyway, I got up when he cooked breakfast and after breakfast we went down to feed chickens.
I decided since it was cool out, it is in the 70's this morning, I would open the coop door to let them explore. Well, that took forever for first one to come out and she was pushed out. We put a ramp up which did help but still only 1 to 3 came out and went back. We stayed out for an hour watching and finally left with coop door open still. I have been checking on them and they are all still in the coop with one or two coming and going. I did take the food out and put at the end of the ramp. Since they are 13 weeks old I am not suprised that they do not want to venture out as they were moved to the coop last sunday.
I know they will get braver with time. Our dog acted the same way as a pup and now she ranged 45 acreas. But what is funny hubby saying the chickens are chicken sh-t.
You just had to hear the tone of voice when he said it, it was funny. He called a pullet who ran back into the coop that and I just burst out laughing.
The silly things that are said at the right moment. He has me on calling a deer in the road one night a stupid deer now i have him on the chicken s--t. Life is good and weather is getting coolor.
