The raccoons are at it again...
I have a big quail coop with an outdoor run enclosed in chicken wire and the quail prefer to sleep in the outdoor run rather than the coop where it is warm. Anyway, sometimes the quail sleep close the fence, and 2 nights ago a coon came by (our livestock guardian dogs were tied up at home so they wouldn't run away) and reached through the wire, grabbed one of my Pied Coturnix and ripped its skin and feathers off it's breast. Also got a deep cut under his wing. He is alive, eating drinking, and alert, we took care of the wound, hope he makes it.

I set out some traps to hopefully catch one. Nothing caught this morning
