I have 7 chicks who are one month old and are sleeping I the coop. Should I make it so that they can only stay I the part that has wood walls, or can I let them have the choice of sleeping in the part that has a roof, but only wire sides?

I do not want mine close to the wire sides---a predator might be able to reach through and grab some. I will vote train them to go in the coop--that's what I do!.

Yes, they should sleep in a predator proof area. Wire sides wouldn't be as safe as the indoor coop with wood walls.
