Chickens become your life-has this happend to anyone??

Wow I didn't think I would get so many replies

I would like to just say something again (chicken shadow said it a few posts ago)

this is a friendly discussion among friends, not a debate.

And, I think people are getting a little off topic. I was really just asking 2 questions:

1 What is the difference? they are both, at heart (and wing) still chickens, however a limited life one of them has.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't know how we got into factory farming, but I think all of our thoughts are pretty much the same on that point!!

I'm gonna take a shot at #2. Yes it has happened to me in several different ways.

Examples:

When I see all the chicken on the shelf at the grocery store I think of my chickens
taking scratch outa my hand. They seem so different. Are they?

When I process one of my birds and look at the processed bird sitting there and
thinking to myself "that bird was crowing 45 minutes ago".

When I take a bite of our own chicken I just cooked in a soup and think a day or two
ago this bird was looking in my back door searching for a treat.

When my son says to me "Wow Roo tastes pretty good" knowing that we are eating
a rooster we named roo. Yes we do name most of our roosters and yes it is a big
mistake.

So I answer Yes. It happens all the time.
