Chickens breaking eggs

My girls move eggs that are in nesting boxes around and sometimes break one. I have 12 girls and 6 boxes but they only use two of them and then move the eggs underneath themselves. Anything I can do?

You can collect the eggs more often. Or consider a roll-out nestbox (b/c after you got your wonderful six boxes done what you really wanna hear is "Re-do your boxes." UGH)

Are they getting oyster shell?

It's normal for birds to ignore the boxes we lovingly build and pile up in one or two. Take away four boxes and they'll begin moaning for more boxes. Uh huh.
