(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Just joined today-but have been "lurking" for months. I decided I needed a hobby-and after finding BYC, I decided to get some egg layers last fall.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I have 14 White Leghorns(one rooster) and 1RIR

(3) What breeds do you have?
I plan on getting couple other brown egg layers in the spring.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I stumbled on it while surfing the web

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Since the chickens came-none. I have really gotten into these. My girls just started laying a few weeks ago. I can't believe how many people want my eggs. We like to garden and look forward to how the garden looks this year with the free chicken compost.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I own a small company fixing minor damage on cars, wife is a school teacher(She WAS NOT HAPPY when the chickens arrived-I kept it a secret to enhance the surprise) 2 boys 16 and 18(they weren't too excited either). Now my wife is the first one to check for eggs each day after school. Yellow Lab Lilly is my big helper-SHE was very excited when the chickens arrived!

Welcome to BYC!

We're glad to have you. Good luck with your chickens!

Hello and welcome to BYC! I pulled the same thing on my husband but I started with ducks in Dec. and chickens in Jan. He was not thrilled but as you said, 'chickens can be addicting.' He now checks on the girls more than I do:)
