Chickens can fly....

ep.gif

WOW!!!

I just showed it to my eldest (15) DS and he said "Your Chicken people are freaks". Understand that that is a compliment of the highest order in our house.

It's wonderful, quite a feat actually.

Now, for the technical ???s - What fabric is it out of? What kind of thread did you use? Where in the world is the air getting in to puff it out and make it fly? Why didn't you just tie a chicken to a string, hang a big insect above its head and let her go?

The material is 3/4 oz ripstop nylon that is coated to prevent air bleeding through it. Same stuff that is used to make sails for sail boats.

Thread is #33 nylon bonded made by Eddington Thread Co. Super strong, & because it's bonded, no fluff to clog the bobbin.

The air/wind enters the chickens mouth & also there is a vent under each wing in order to inflate it.

So are you telling me if I see a big red chicken fly by someday.....that i should continue drinking and wait to see the Pink elephant ?....Really cool !

Thank you for indulging my curiosity. I wouldn't have figured that the mouth opening provides enough air, but obviously it is!

My puppeteering son would love to make a kite at some point.
