Chickens Communicating With Wild Birds

My chickens respond to the wild birds’ alarm calls and even when the squirrels act up.

I have seen a flock of crows chase off hawks, but just this past weekend I watched our resident pair of ravens chase off a hawk. I love them and call them our guard ravens! My chickens definitely listen & react to the ravens’ warning calls.

We have a flock of crows hanging around our neighborhood, and our girls do the same thing. When the crows are raising cane in the tree tops it is usually a hawk or a falcon we have both around here. Have watched the crows gang up on a hawk and run him off so I appreciate their help

I've noticed this too! Same thing--no rooster, and once the wild birds make the alarm call, boom--everyone heads for the hedge. It makes me happy.
