I've been raking up all the fallen fruit and leaves into a compost pile and throwing kitchen scraps on top for the chickens. Should i or should i not add the dirty litter from the chicken coup onto this compost pile too? Seeing as food and poo are unmixy things?

I do. Chickens eat poop, chicken poop and other animals’ poop. It’s a great source for partially digested nutrients plus sharing poop is how chickens develop flock immunities and share probiotics. They are eating each other’s poop from the ground now anyway.

What you don’t want is for that to be wet. A little damp is OK but bad things live in wet poop. As long as it is built up enough so it drains after a rain they should be fine. The chickens will also mix that in for you with all their scratching.
