Three of my hens are coughing for the last three days. Should I isolate them from the rest of the flock? What kind of medication should I give? They seem to look fine. They're eating and drinking just very concern about the cough and runny nose.

How well is your coop ventilated? Do you smell ammonia at the floor level of the coop? Is the bedding dusty? Just a few things to think about that may irritate them and cause respiratory problems.

Hi ! I had just posted to someone else about their hen doing the same thing. Mine had gapeworms. I gave all my girls a pea-sized bit of horsewormer on their treats. I lost one to this, and almost lost another 'til I figured out what was wrong. Feel her throat. You should be able to feel something in there if it's gapeworms. I felt something about 1-2 inches long. That's when I googled it and came up with gapeworms. If I would have known then what I know now, I could have saved Jezebel, my Black Australorp.
