Chickens crossing the road-coyote

So this morning my mom saw a coyote coming down the driveway towards the chickens (free range girls) so she chased him off since I was gone and couldn't. Now my chickens have also decided to cross the road. What should I do?!

After my chickens started crossing the road I decided to build a fenced enclosure so that they could't get run over by cars.

I might be able to do the garden as I only have seven, how tall would it have to be so that they couldn't fly over it?

My fence was about 5-6 feet high but it depends on your breed of chickens some are good at jumping.

I have two california greys, two rhode island reds, two blacksex links, and one blue andalusian, the first and last are fairly good at flying.
