Chickens didn’t die

I totally get the "chickens didn't die!" thing. I had nineteen chicks. None of them died and only the unknown sex chicken turned out to be a roo.

I built a large covered run for them to live in all summer, but even following the BYC guidelines (10 square feet space in the run per chicken), my 10 ft by 20 ft run seemed too small for the chickens I had. So I rehomed two, and now everyone is much happier.

I know you love your nine chickens, but now would be a good time to rehome any problem chickens, or ones that just don't fit with the rest of your flock. Something to consider.

I agree. I hate rehoming the "problem girls" but the flock is always so peaceful afterwards.

Hello Tiffany, welcome to the biggest coop on the web!
We had to expand too. We were adopted by 5 hens & a roo seeking sanctuary. We quickly made a impromptu coop from a 4x6 lean-to, with absolutely no chicken experience.
We learned they needed more space, so we converted a storage shed (10x12) into a coop & grain storage. Now there are 4 more hens coming around….. so our family is growing!
