Chickens don't urinate, so what is this?

    Hi all,

This is the second time this has happened in my coop, so I have to ask:

I found "wet" bedding in the nesting box. There is no egg there or evidence of an egg having been laid. The bedding looks like a cup of water has been dumped on it. There are no leaks in the roof of my coop, and I don't keep a waterer in this area.

What can this be? All my girls seem to be healthy.

Has it been especially hot? I know one of my girls occasionally has left very wet spots around, but from what I got from Storey's Guide, it was likely because she was drinking lots of water (we live in Central CA and it gets CRAZY hot here). Stools can be runny/liquidy if they're drinking a lot. Or so the book said....
