My chickens free range most of the day and the one thing that they love the most is searching for bird poop on the ground. There is nothing in my yard that should be attractive to wild birds, my chickens feed and water are secured when they are not in the coop, there are a couple of fruit trees where the chickens roam though. There is nothing I can really do to stop the birds from visiting my yard except cutting down every single tree and even then they still find a way to visit and poop over my yard. I wonder what makes bird poop so delicious for my chickens? Could they be lacking nutrients in some way and the only way to get them is by eating birdpoop? It would be great if someone told me I'm not the only one dealing with this problem

I don't thing you should be too worried, besides, not much you can do to stop that.
I have a feeling that your chickens are seeking out the bird droppings, because it may contain calcium. The white portion probably is calcium rich. Maybe you can offer cracked oyster shells free-choice, and see if that slows down the poop consumption. :idunno
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome

I'm facing the same problem, except my rooster eats his own poop! Yuck! This has been happening for over an year and at times he stops, but mostly he eats it. Sigh..
