Today I found a dead squirrel by the coop. We have plenty of squirrels, raccoons, opossums and all sorts of wild life because our yard backs to a creek.
It looked like the chickens were enjoying eating this dead animal. I'm assuming that something killed it, dragged it out of the creek and dropped it off by the coop.
So, do I move it, and let them eat it? Or should I remove it immediately? Do I need to be worried about them? Or is it perfectly normal for chickens to eat dead animals?

Well, chickens are omnivores, but I would take it away from them. You don't know what that squirrel could be carrying or how it died.

X2 I have squirrels dying on my property lately, and I am removing the corpses - I don't know if they were poisoned or what. Some carry the bubonic plague around here and rabies. Ick!

My chickens attack and kill anything that is too slow. I have caught them stealing squireles, chipmonks, rabbits, and mice from my cats. They also catch and gobble down insects, snakes, lizards, and any baby rodent they can find.
