chickens eating horse feed

I was looking at the ingredients on my triple crown senior horse feed. Seems to match the poultry conditioner ingredients- alfalfa meal, wheat middlings, soybean meal, distillers dried grains, rice bran, flaxseed, kelp meal, limestone, probiotics, amino acids, vits and minerals etc. I'm thinking of mixing it in with my chicken feed. This stuff is amazing for horses- have a 42 year old pony who looks 20, horses and chickens both monogastric foragers...sooo, any thoughts?

Yup, 14%, which is fine because my flock raiser is a bit high at 20% I have a Japanese bantam living in the barn who always cleans up after the horses and is the picture of health, so I think it's ok. Check out the ingredients on their site and let me know what you think! I may start to add some to my feeders. Also thinking about chopped hay moistened to replace pasture in the winter, and a bit of bird seed for fat.

Triple Crown is an awesome horse feed. The calcium is low for layers, but you can up that with another feed. My chickens love it when I give them horse or goat feed.

In the winter i soak the alfalfa pellets and/or cubes in warm water for the hens and even add a bit of soaked beet pulp.

keep in mind what each animal normal live on........horse, cattle, goats, deer, all eat grass or plants, others like dogs ,cats,chicken, turkey, pigs eat insects, meat, grain. all the grass and hay the last few can't convert it like horses and etc. so pig feed would be better for chicken, just like horse feed wouldn't do a dog much good....lot of the horse feed would be wasted......IMO
