I know people aren't supposed to eat rhubarb leaves, but my chickens often get into my garden, head for the big ol' rhubarb plant, and nibble away. Should I (continue to) be worried?

I just spent a ton of time building the coop and run and planned to fence in the garden next year. Should I speed up my plans?

Thanks for any advice!

Our chickens and goose have all eaten rhubarb leaves from time to time and it hasn't seemed to have any negative effects, though it drives hubby nuts when his leaves look all ragged.

Someone asked yesterday, and I dont really know an answer....but it isnt good. If it doenst have accute effects it probably damages their kidneys.

The Toxin in Rhubarb leaves is called Oxalic acid.
