Chickens eating their eggs?

Their run isn't big enough for that. It's long but it's not tall. It's only a metre tall at it's highest point and it's triangular shaped, so you can get an idea.

I also found out my chickens have lice. Ugh... if it's not one thing... they're all getting a bath tonight and then I'm seeing who the eggeater is.

That could be, actually probably is the problem. It could be they are not laying not that the chickens are eatting the eggs! Parasites such as lice and mites can impact the health of the chicken. If they aren't healthy they won't usually lay.

Other things such as stress can also cause them not to lay. Sources of stress examples food change, overcrowding, or a predator chasing. But I would bet once the lice gets taken care of they will lay again. Also make sure to clean out the bedding good too incase there are any lice eggs or larvae in the bedding.

I GOT EGGS!

It WAS my timing. Apparently they've been laying at NIGHT and eating their eggs in the morning. So I gotta check for eggs around 8pm, apparently. Silly chooks, I thought they were supposed to lay in the afternoon!

Anyway it seemed only the pullet had lice. All the rest didn't. Weird.

That is GREAT!! I went through the same situation last week...I had two eggs eaten and I was FREAKING! I put some fake pretty bright colored easter eggs in the boxes and they haven't bothered the real eggs since! Guess they tried the fake ones and lost interest when they didn't break. Glad you had a breakthrough!!
BTW--you are just too funny...I was voting for "poke them with sticks" when I read your original post!!

Have a great day! (night) LOL
