My chicken is very lethargic and I can feel an egg and see a bulge on her bottom. She can’t do anything. I soaked her in warm water righhht now. Is there anything else I can do? When I picked her up a lot of liquid came out of her.mouth too.

You can repeat the soak, if she enjoys it. Give her some calcium which will help with contractions, you can grind up a tums in some moistened feed, or give 1/2 a calcium tablet. Try to lube up around the egg as best you can, if you have some KY jelly, vaseline, coconut oil, etc use your finger to try to work it around the egg. Put her in a low light and quiet area, the more she is able the relax it will help. I'm going to assume that you are sure this is an egg? How old is the bird and do you know when she last laid? If you insert your finger into the vent up to 2 inches you can feel the egg? Just trying to make sure you are on the right track.

She is 3 years old. We have other chickens so hard to know the last time she laid. The buldge is hard and the shape of an egg. I wish I could just squeeze it out. I definitely feel an egg. I will go out and repeat the bath. She is isolated from the flock as they were picking on her.

Make sure to be very careful, the egg could be a bit soft depending on how long its been in there. If it cracks, your going to need to get a pair of gloves, some sort of lubricant and get all the eggs. pieces out without cutting the insides of her. Best of luck!

Thank you

So sorry that your hen died? Do you think that you could send her body into the state vet for a necropsy, or could you try to do a necropsy yourself to look for what the problem was? When doing a home necropsy, it is good to take pictures of the abdominal organs to look for egg binding or internal laying, and cancer. Clear pictures of the liver, intestines, and oviduct can be posted her. Here is a link for contacting your atate vet for a necropsy, and another of a necropsy to help identify the organs:
