Chickens eye missing..

Has anyone else had a chicken get it’s eye pecked out by another chicken? I just noticed this chickens eye was missing. She’s been acting broody lately so idk if she’s been fighting with other chickens! Just curious if anyone else has dealt with this before.

Have you opened the eyelids to see if the eye could be hidden by swelling, or is the eye socket is empty? When my hen was pecked in the eye, it took 5 days for me to see the eye. Broodies may be pecked or bullied especially if they are sitting in a nest box that another hen wants. I would use some antibiotic ointment or Vetericyn eye gel in the eye if the eye is still there.

She had the eye open last night that’s how I noticed it. It was white and shriveled up inside I was thinking she might be getting picked on cause she’s been sitting in a nest box almost all day and I’m sure other chickens want in there. Idk how to get her to stop being broody though.

I remove my broodies to a large cage with food and water on the ground and no bedding, grass is preferred, but not always available. A roost also helps. They pace around the first day or two, but them you can interest them to peck around at some sunflower kernels or scratch, but not too much. I scramble an egg and give them half. It can help to have a friend if you have a large enough pen. Mine is 6x7 feet with a tarp, but many use a wire dog crate. Mine break in 3-5 days usually, and when I release them in the evening, they will let you know if they are still broody by hoing into the nest box. Just stick her back in the crate for another day or two, and try again.

or you could separate while she stays broody pretty much do everything Eggcessive said but keep her with the eggs and give bedding
