Hey guys! I have four chicks, two Jersey giants around 4 weeks old and 2 barred Plymouth rocks around 3 weeks old. Whenever I bring them outside, they flap around and bum rush each other and fly at each other constantly. Is this normal? It’s mostly a Plymouth Rock chick that I think may be a male due to his spunkyness. My worries were increased when my Jersey giant chick colonel got a small cut next to his eye. It’s very minor, I’m just wondering if this is normal or if there is a way to prevent it. Thanks!

It's normal chick play. Not to say that in their exuberance injuries might not occur. Doctor the boo-boos as you would with rambunctious toddlers. Vetericyn spray is a quick and easy wound treatment.

Just keep an eye out for ganging up on one chick or a single chick that might be getting most of the abuse from one other. Then you may need to think of a solution to even things out.
