Chicken's first egg

I have seven hens. One, possibly two, layed their first egg two days ago. I found one in a nesting box and one on the ground in the run. Yesterday, there was one egg in the nesting box. Today, no eggs. Is egg laying erratic in the beginning?

Depending on the breed most chickens don't lay every day anyway. Even production egg layers only lay about 300 eggs per year. But yeah they start out a little slow and sometimes the eggs might look funny too.
