Chickens flying into predator proof door?

Hi Everyone

I've had 3 chickens for 10 glorious days now. I had a thought for a predator proof door and I would love to get everyone's opinion on it.

They would fly up on progressively higher posts until they can jump into a coop door that is about 5 feet off the ground.

Would that stop a raccoon, or a fox, or a rat from getting in?

Thanks for looking!

Well coon can climb pretty good... might stop a fox... my only concern is teaching them to go in it every time they want to enter the coop.

I am skeptical that it would stop predators from getting in. Most of the critters you mentioned climb better than you would give them credit for.

Thanks for the responses!

I think raccoons would be able to climb up but then they would have to jump a few feet from a wobbly small post which I'm hoping they can't do. (raccoons around here are big and fat)

I just discovered how much my chickens love grapes, so training them to jump on the posts will be no trouble.

Would squirrels jump in for the feed?

Squirrels can pretty much get into anything or get anywhere...........
