One of our almost 2 mo old hens has a hurt foot. She got his foot pinched underneath the frame of the chicken tractor for a few seconds. It started limping and a few hours later it won't walk on that foot. The foot looks slightly blue-ish and a little swollen. She didn't go into the roosting box tonight with the others. We brought her in the house and she's currently laying on my lap and every now and then she shudders/shivers a little, but there's no way she's cold. We are going to keep her in tonight with food and water right next to her. We feel bad as she's probably in pain. Is there anything else we can do? Will this heal?

Your poor girl, sounds like it might be broken, how is she doing now? Shivering can be from shock/pain. Do you still have her in the house? I would keep her in until she does a bit better on her foot. Poor girl and

for you all.

I had one get her foot caught in the barn door. It swelled and she wouldn't walk on it for a few days. We kept her close to food and water and she recovered. Her foot is twice the size of the other , but she gets around fine. I agree, the shivering is more from the discomfort she is in - keep her warm and fed and she should be ok.
