Speaking of fleas, I'll bet Bee has some great natural remedies to fleas on dogs. Do I recall you mentioning garlic powder in a post sometime? Fleas became a major problem here thanks to our mild winter, and many of my friends battled them for months. I use some expensive rx-only pills, but would love to move away from that if you have any OT advice?

Sorry...usually garlic works just fine for my dogs and always have. This year? They must be making super fleas!!!! If the dog would leave the stuff on that I put on him, we might have had them licked(pardon the pun) but he licks it off as soon as I put it on him. The Nustock was working wonders...until he licks it off.

The pine oil is great and has been working for this week and he has not licked it off, so I'll report on that if it lasts.

Thanks for the input, Bee. I agree on the super fleas... Something has morphed them into mutants, that's for sure. I've used borax soap in my carpets before and it worked, but I'm not sure whether boric acid would be safe to apply directly to the dog or not. I'm not surprised you tried NuStock! Keep us posted on the pine oil :)

Yep...when you see the egg in the nest, you'll know they are ready to lay.

And the middle son will be bowhunting a little while he is in. He is some kind of death on the deer and always brings home the meat, ever since he was 8 yrs old he's been a steady killer. Love deer meat here and cannot wait until he comes...but also can't wait to sink my teeth in some deer.

The Bat plans on doing some gun hunting and she's a good shot, so we'll see what she turns up. I plan on making jerky for Christmas presents this year, so I need me some meat!

mmmmmm....tenderloin! The one out of the buck he got was huge, as was the catfish!

can't wait to eat them. He cuts medallions out of the tenderloin, wraps them in bacon and cooks them on the grill.....HEAVEN!!

Good luck to your young'uns as well!! I'm glad they are coming home for a visit!! I know that makes your heart sing - I was so sorry my daughter broke her leg, but it was such a nice excuse to go up and spend time with her and my other 2 girls and their families - grandbaby lovin' is just the best cure for ANYTHING!

I'm heading out to do chicken chores now then go to my stand. Hopefully by the end of the day we'll each have another one for the freezer!

NanaKat: Wow! That's a lot of pumpkins. I thought I had a lot when my daughter gave me hers after she took down her decorations. I've got 10 cut up and packaged in the freezer.
