You should! For entertainment value, not educational value. Big difference! I will admit to buying 2 different poultry magazines the day I bought my chicks. One was just about different breeds, so I'm not sure it counts. Glad I found byc before I added to my ever-growing library though. I'm considering a milk goat - well, I'm dreaming of a milk goat, DH won't hearof it - and I've found a few blogs from real goat farmers that I've been perusing rather than stockpiling the goat books. Wonder if there's a byg website for backyard goats? Lol. I've discovered a few good beekeeping forums as well, one project DH has already approved for spring. Maybe I should stick to one new species per year... Goats in 2014!

And imagine the awful trama that poor sweet girl must go through being held by the legs OMG  you terrible people. Now she has be to taken to the vet and evaluated for any physical harm then taken to a chicken whisperer for proper mental analysis, god forbid she grows up with a complex I just couldn't forgive myself. Ok so now I feel bad so I am heading into the kitchen for a few hours to cook and prepare a fresh treat for them and take it to them asap as a peace offering. i hope they come out of the little birdy house thing in the morning.

Naw, just schedule a session for them with Dr. Phil. It really is a shame Oprah no longer makes house calls.

LOL yeah RR Dr Phil is the only man I know who hates men as much as Oprah does hahahahaha. But seriously do you folks have any idea how many of these type chicken folks are on this forum ?? they out number normal chicken people 10000000 to 1 and the whole site caters to them exclusively, of course these are the folks that the BYC make all their $$ from. Of course we tell them newby's like it is and that they don't need all that fancy uptown stuff, that's why our input is always brushed aside as drival and harsh LOL.

Look at the bottom of your page....Backyardherds. Wish granted. There are so many goat people over there that it will make you sick...but, sadly, no OTs. Just folks who theoretically dress the goaties in diapers and would never dream of hanging them upside down. Lot's of bona fide experts, though, just like on BYC. Give it a look...should be good for some laughs.

The Night Before Christmas - On the Ranch

'Twas the night before Christmas and out on the ranch
...
The pond was froze over and so was the branch.
The snow was piled up belly-deep to a mule.

The kids were all home on vacation from school,
And happier young folks you never did see-
Just all sprawled around a-watchin' TV.

Then suddenly, some time around 8 o'clock,
There came a surprise that gave them a shock!
The power went off, the TV went dead!
When Grandpa came in from out in the shed
With an armload of wood, the house was all dark.
"Just what I expected," they heard him remark.
"Them power line wires must be down from the snow.
Seems sorta like times on the ranch long ago."

"I'll hunt up some candles," said Mom. "With their light,
And the fireplace, I reckon we'll make out all right."
The teenagers all seemed enveloped in gloom.
Then Grandpa came back from a trip to his room,

Uncased his old fiddle and started to play
That old Christmas song about bells on a sleigh.
Mom started to sing, and first thing they knew
Both Pop and the kids were all singing it, too.

They sang Christmas carols, they sang "Holy Night,"
Their eyes all a-shine in the ruddy firelight.
They played some charades Mom recalled from her youth,
And Pop read a passage from God's Book of Truth.

They stayed up till midnight-and, would you believe,
The youngsters agreed 'twas a fine Christmas Eve.
Grandpa rose early, some time before dawn;
And when the kids wakened, the power was on.

"The power company sure got the line repaired quick,"
Said Grandpa - and no one suspected his trick.
Last night, for the sake of some old-fashioned fun,
He had pulled the main switch - the old Son-of-a-Gun!

Recent Talk about fat chickens has me thinking... Is there any way to tell that your chickens are too fat

What do OT's think about just feeling the keel bone, see if it is hard and sharp or if the area is covered with fat, blunting the feel of the bone?
