, please let's not change one bit. Sometimes I think we are the only sane ones along with a few others in the bunch. I try not to listen to all those Gals having their little pity parties, why couldn't they just stick to having tupperware parties. Instead of getting into chickens and making our lives miserable LOL.

You mean mean man you

Maybe perhaps I should stop making parody jokes for fear some will actualy take me seriously, I was making a joke and to prove a point. That point for those who know me know there ain't a snowballs chance in haides that I would consider taking a chicken to a Vet under any circumstances. Nor buy diaper or aporons, or keep a chicken in the house other than freshly hatched lil brooders. or put up with antics of roosters, or pay attention to wimpy hens. Sorry folks was just looking to parody the other side of the obsurd in chicken husbandry as you most certainly see running rampant on other Foo-Foo threads. I promise from now on I will stick to what I do best............... keeping it real.
Oh no, Al, please don't stop the parody. I haven't been so entertained on BYC for a long time! Anyone who has followed your posts knows what you really think. You, Bee, Walt and several others have been the voice of reason that is so needed for people who want to be practical in their chicken-keeping, and it's fun when you all let loose!

I'm going to slowly move backwards and make no threatening motions...it's been good knowin' ya, Al, but I got to see a fella about some roosters..... <sneaking off on tip toe>

Now please can we talk about other more gentle methods for treating a mean rooster because quite frankly people it's offensive to hear the way some of you treat your chickens and all this culling and killing and cooking them, is a thought that just makes me so very sad, and sometimes I tear up.
Awww Al, seeing you so sad makes me want to pick you up and cuddle you and carry you around for awhile. Just not sure what that would do for my flock dynamics tho.

Fewer and fewer people get parody and sarcasm these days. I wonder if it's because reality is so weird now, that it's hard to be funnier than the serious people.
Sadly, you may have something there. I tend to be very sarcastic at times, but try not to be online since you can't read tone of voice. The people who know me know it's there, though.

I think you missed the part where the last page or so was a Parody, I had feared that some would take it seriously, it was meant to emphise the difference between real flock care and the Obsurd way others percieve a good rooster vs wimpy ones.
LOL, no Al, I didn't miss your parody and I actually rather enjoyed it. I just hadn't seen a roo grab a hen by the hackles before and it surprised me. Rooster C, for all he was a complete azz to humans, was very good with his girls which is why he lasted as long as he did. I didn't really get upset til he drew blood on me one day. Sunday, on the other hand, has never dropped a wing on me but the description of Romeo fits him to a T. Those 2 are my sole experiences with roos, so wasn't sure if it was normal or not. Since everyone with more experience says it's normal and the hens will school him, he's good til he decides to try on a human.

If he was a colt, I'd throw him in with the bred mares and let them teach him his manners. Sounds like hens will do the same, so that will work just fine for me.
