Important thing to know that was passed on to me by a vet years ago...if your dog does ingest rat poison and it was recent enough to regurgitate it, you can use hydrogen peroxide for this purpose. Half a cup(or however much it takes) of the H2O2 can make a dog throw up the poison and everything else he ate since the puppy kibble he ingested in the first month of life! He will wretch until you feel sorry for him...and keep doing so for a better part of the day.

We've had 2 different neighbors farms in our county fatally infested with hantavirus from mice, one farm the mother died, another farm a man and wife both got it and the wife survived the man died and left 4 young children. It's not acceptable for mice to be here spreading disease. We have cats, electric mouse/rat zappers & traps. Many farms have waged war on mice. I think the drought and the over population of hawks have cut back on the numbers of mice also.

Mice don't control their feces or urine they poop and urinate all of the time, they contaminate anything they touch it and that's how hantavirus is spread. Breathing air where they have been can kill healthy people.

Where we store our weedeaters etc the mice are always in there making nest, sometimes the smell is over powering, I am going to get this One Bite and put it in there the door is always closed and nothing can get in except the mice, I just want to be sure the chickens and ducks won't eat a mouse if it dies out where the flock hangs out. Being born and mostly raised in FL. we could go to just about any feed store and get rat /mouse poison for free it was the kind that they would eat and then they would have to find water. We had dogs/cats and as far as i know none ever found a poisoned vermin. But I really don't want mice in my coops either.

I always know when I have rats cause they steal the eggs. And the fix is always the same: Rat poison down the mouse hole, which can't be reached by the chickens. I have to do that about once or twice a year now. Nasty things!

just catching up. just so everyone knows i pee right outside the coop. our main predator is possum they are never near the coop. so maybe that male urine has some truth.

We are visited nightly by a possum I catch him on the game camera every night, I'm going to have to ask my husband to move to the left side of the house for a while.

That'll stop anyone from paying you a surprise visit at the coop! "Hey, lets call him first. He pees right by the coop" "Oh! Right! OK!"
