While I suppose that "all things pertaining" is a catch-all phrase that can be construed to mean just about anything the primary goal, as I understand it is to impart useful, real world knowledge. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well...here's a bit of knowledge: If you have good friends, admire, appreciate and uplift them, for they are a rare commodity.

Now, that's some real world, useful advice....

I have EEs. I love them! It's fun to see how many different colors you can get for eggs.

Agree! And mine lay about 5-6 days in a row then one day off. I got 11 in a row from one. Nice

I am not an OT tho and pretty new to this so do not know how long they last like that....but that is my experience so far! Oh and one lays med size eggs, and the other lays large, same size as the store bought. I had two, but had to sell one, she became the boss and terrorized my bantams. The other one is really sweet though as well as my neighbors so I think I just had bad luck.

I agree EE's are awesome, I was wondering about how many years will they lay.

some folks do unto others as they would them do unto you, we appreciate their friendship, their knowledge, and their tuetiledge. we enjoy this for fun and comradre that we all share, sorry if you were offended at this minor off topic infraction. But the BYC sometimes does encourage this fellowship. we will now resume our regularly scheduled programing.

Very pale blue, robin's egg blue, light green and olive green. That was before they decided to molt. Now I'm just getting the robin's egg blue one. In the past, I crossed an EE with a brown egg laying breed and gotten pinkish and peachy colored eggs. It's always fun to see what you get when you do those things. I figure why not, as long as they're for my own use and I'm not showing, selling, or in any other way representing any particular breeds. I love my mutts!

You`re doin fine, Al. I loved the levity. "You can please some of the people all the time and all of the ........"..........Pop

I hope this is not off topic.. but has any of you ever used, or built a chicken plucker ? I bought a drum type one 45 years ago and the whole neighbohood is still using it.. In the past two years I built two of the "Whizbang" style ones.. You can pluck two chickens at a time in less than a half a minute.. I sold the first one and built another..

I can also show how to make sliding doors out of used overhead garage door tracks and rollers.. and I made sliding doors out of an old shower door.. these are mounted on one of my brooder pens..

I also built a string of 10 laying nests that are individually removable for cleaning, with a bank of brooder pens above.

I have photos of all these things..

By all means, post them pics!!

and any n all info about that plucker...that sounds really interesting

Hi All

Just got back to the BYC Boards (had to cull my 'puter, and life got a bit busy). I seen this thread and had to start reading it. Several posters have very good points, BUT don't everyone have somekind of locking deivice on all doors and or gates? and use them every time, no matter if it's just a sec.?

thanks Scott

You didn't read the first page or two, did you? There are no hissy fits thrown if you hi-jack or kidnap the thread...my thread, my rules. Only hissies if you apologize for doing so!

That would be a great idea, BTW, for us all to place our years of chickening next to our location. What do all you old-timers feel about that?

Still trying to learn how this board works myself, started our birding about early 90's or so, after learning about layers from my Grandad in the 60's
