Carrying your chickens upside down WILL kill them! Just last week, I loaded my Freedom Rangers in a trailer to take to the processor and I got them.... 100 of them by the feet to load into the trailer, and then to crate them at the processor. Gosh, it would have taken FOREVER to carry them out one at a time right side up! Anyhow, maybe it only kills them the 2nd time cause now they're all dead and the last thing I did was carry them upside down.....

Maybe I should put this in the chicken management thread....

It's all in the details. Is there maybe a small detail missing here?

Can anyone give me some advice on a baby turkey who walks in circles and jerks his head back and forth?

i had a speckled sussex hen that would do that but only if it was raining or very humid. i have no idea why.

one last question on that ..how deep should i make the troughs ..dont want to make it so deep they cant reach the feed lol..maybe 2x6 or would you do 2x4 boards?

My grandmother says to worm the chickens I should use tetracycline to worm my chickens is the true or a bad idea?

Tetracycline is an antibiotic and it won't get rid of worms.

My trough feeder was 6 in. in depth and it worked just fine. Just make sure they can reach the feed...I had to spread some of the wires a little to let this happen on the 2x3 welded wire but not by much.

1x4 troughs? they kick the feed out of it? i been using the haning ones but i dont hang it lol ..more just for the feeder ..seems to work for me ..i was thinking for making some troughs about 12" sides and about 4' long ..and about 14" wide ..think that would work?

1x4 and 1x6 referred to the dimension of the lumber piece used in making wooden troughs, not their size, LOL

I make them about 24" long and have multiples of them.
