Oh Walt, you don't know the half of it. He did try, once or twice.

From your perspective........do these folks read the posts or do you think they just ignore the info? It is kind of crazy. They ask and then you tell them and then they keep asking the same question until some bozo comes along with some info he pulls ......er......out of his back pocket and then everyone goes......oh great! I think I will do that! It is a strange phenomenon that I have only seen on this site.

Your right Walt and almost all folks think that, too bad it's so far from the truth. Perhaps that's why there are so few good true breeders of good Cornish out there, the know it all's get easily frustrated and abandon the breed when they figure it out LOL. There is a guy over in the Cornish thread who has had Cornish all of 45 seconds but he is now the man !! with his So called SQ birds that closely resemble Hatchery stuff, and he's got the BYC newby's fooled big time LOL. There are already to many poser breeders in the chicken world we don't need more messing up our breed. And your right Walt this site seems to encourage and even promote the most insane ideas that real chicken folks just laugh at, oh well whattcha gonna do ??............... Other REAL !!! Poultry/chicken sites refer to this one as the special Olympics of the chicken world and or the land of Rainbows & Unicorns and rightly so for the reasons you mentioned, but at least it's entertaining right. Ok I am now ready to recieve my punishment and have my hands slapped here by the powers that be LOL.

The Emperor and His New Clothes........................................... some childhood books just never go away. lol

Exactly! You don't know how many times I refer to that book..both on forums and in my personal life!

I think Galanie has it right....people ask opinions or advice at times when it is very clear that they are really just wanting confirmation of their own ideas, so they naturally pick the advice that is most congruent with their own ideas.

You can see that on this thread as well. Someone asks for advice, someone from the Land of Unicorns & Rainbows answers, one of the OTs says, "Sorry, but that's ludicrous." Original OP gets offended, the LU&R poster gets offended and they both leave. At that time it is very clear to me that the original OP wasn't here to get actual advice...they were here to get their own methods approved by the OTs. When it doesn't happen, they pack up their chicken diapers and go home.

That's all good, IMO, because it means those who aren't real serious about raising chickens have gravitated to another thread where they can get their hands patted, their egos nursed and their sentimental ideas bolstered. Those who are serious about having a quality flock and are working towards the same can learn without the occasional drama interrupting the flow of info.

Hey there Lynn................. good to see you, welcome to the real world................... How ya been Brother ??.

Yes, people only hear what they want to hear. Again.... I post a lot for the lurkers and hope they make the right decisions. Wouldn't it be cool if your Cornish laid blue eggs Al?..maybe a frizzled Cornish. I have seen them and they ain't pretty. Personally I don't care what these people do with their chickens, but their "advice" and birds.cuz they do sell them...cause problems for people who really want to do serious breeding. When you hear things like: "I have 19 projects" you can be pretty sure the person has no idea what the projects consist of as far as replicating the results. One of the upscale boutique/importers of weird breeds hatchery's just sent out their newsletter pushing the notion that birds evolve on their own, so their is no need to follow any standard. I guess I would say that too if my birds didn't look alike and the offspring look like a rooster jumped the fence.

You haven't "arrived" here unless you get in trouble now and then.

Walt
