And right on the money!
Well I went to the feed store today and nearly passed out. Thank God my daughter was with me "mom. Mom. Mom. MOM. MOM! MOM!!
I think these kinds of additional nutrition should have some kind of warning so a gal can get a little prepared.
The little helper dude was was very cheerful and said "yep there was a drought and now that they know people will pay the prices will never go back down!"

Black sunflower seed 50 lbs.....$28.50
Calf manna 50 lb......$28.50
GMO Layena pellets 50lb......$17.15
bird seed lard cakes $2.29 each
whole corn 50lb...... $18.79
every feed type in the whole store was GMO. Pot bellied pig, horse , rabbit everything.

The good news the ACV organic was only 5.49 and its usually 8.00. That was at the grocer though.

And to top it off my girls dont like the Manna. I didnt get the seeds cause I need to refinance the house first. lol. I told them they "get what they get and they don't throw a fit!"

I saw that Bee.............. they were certainly as bad as the picture you so accurately painted, and what I expected to see. I think you did all the right things my dear with all the right stuff................ which goes to show your not full of it after all heheheheee

What I was impressed with Bee was the time it took them to turn around, very short turn around so far, sure getting rid of the mites and such and weight is pretty quick but you have them looking well feathered and their alertness is great. To have vent's like that in that bad a shape a person almost has to try and mess the birds up, I for one am very glad you got them back and their in good hands just like allstate LOL.

Thanks, Al...your opinion counts for a lot. I was hoping you'd approve!

I was just hoping your birds would approve of their care, that's the deal, and they did.

BOSS is almost $17 per 25lb down here, as is Calf Manna...so you are getting off cheap.

This, my friends, is where you will see the wisdom in my frugal ways when it comes to keeping chickens. This is why I don't keep "pet" chickens on the feed bill. This is why I cull for egg laying and hardiness, so that the flock is producing the best it can on the amount of feed that I can afford. This is also why I free range, mix cheaper whole grains into the layer mash and also why I ferment the feed. This is why I don't spend money on medicine and fancy treatments for sick chickens. All money saving ideas that makes sure I don't have eggs that cost more than the grocery store can sell them.

If there is one thing that I am good at, I am good at being poor. Been that way all my life and have it down to a fine art now.

Reminds me of a joke about lottery winners. 4-5 people won and they were all asked "what will you do with the money?" - all answered pretty much the same except the farmer who said "I will probably keep farming till I'm broke again."

I went to the feed store today & bought 50# of layer pellets & scratch because I know the prices are going to go sky high. Tho apparently prices are lower here. I only spent $34 for both bags & 2 chewie bones for the dogs. Im just going to store it for the winter......using FF will make it last a loooong time
