I bought 4, count 'em FOUR, Suncast horizontal double walled storage boxes on sale. I love these things! 1 -100 W. light bulb keeps them toasty for grow outs. The roofs also pop up for hotweather. 2 front doors too. Hubby put a poop door in one and mounted them 2' off the ground with ramps. They are about 4 1/2 feet long x 2 1/2 deep x 3' tall. I have 5 big baby 6 mos old .Orps sleeping in one, and 15- 4-6 week old babies in the other. No way you could build these for 135.00. Super easy to clean too. The other 2 are for expansion...don't tell Hubby. I stashed them in the attic !
Pics pleas.

Just to let you know in my area these are on clearance at Sears for $137 with tax. I just ordered one. Thanks, Dragonlady. This will be great.

Edited to add:

Buy.com has them for $134 on clearance with free shipping. Good luck.

I can't build a grow out coop for this price. Not to mention it makes a great Christmas gift for the in-laws.

Make sure you get the DOUBLE WALLED one!

Turns out I have TWO hens laying. I narrowed the likely suspects down to 3 and kept them locked up yesterday, I had one egg in the coop and one in the sawdust pile out in the barn! haha. So I was right and wrong at the same time. Darn. On another note, caught my young roo successfully 'doing his duty' this morning AND it was on one of the big BO girls that he, up until recently, was still intimidated by. Good for him!
so 3 eggs in the last 2 days, ate them for breakfast this morning. Just out of curiosity...do the 2 at the top look fertilized?

PS. Don't you just love my 1985 'woodgrain' countertops?

On the topic of dogs...I've got a good ole gal, she'd love to eat the chickens, but her self restraint makes her a decent LGD. High prey drive and very territorial, will chase anything that moves in 'her yard' and will kill anything she catches. Only downfall is she cant stay out in cold weather, Doberman, no coat. Anyway, today i was sitting in the barn watching chicken TV and she always posts herself right outside the door. She jumped up growling, and hackles up started 'stiff walking' towards the backyard. I got up to look and there was a dang PIG walking thru the yard!!
Not a threat, so I called her off. The joys of country living.
