everytime i see these pictures . i get a tear. if you have never been to other parts of the world, believe me the freedoms we have should not be taken lightly.

Some People have commitment issues these days, they bring their cats and dogs out to the country so they can "run free", and they can relieve themselves of the responsibility. The cats are quickly coyote food and the dogs starve, get tore up by coyotes or get shot for destroying property. People don't get it, this isn't Disney Land.

And I thought all the unwanted pets were brought to my street and turned loose to eat MY CHICKENS?

"Yes, we've already learned that lesson the hard way. We've spent over a thousand dollars (my hub calls her our milion dollar chicken) on our Rhode Island White (or RIR/Leghorn mix, not sure yet).
She had all sorts of infections from the feed store, thankfully I took her to the vet the first day we got her so she was never around the rest of our chickens. She miraculously lived through the horrible ordeal of us having to tube feed her, 3 procedures on her sinus cavities, pox, and she was barely even skin and bones when we got her and could barely hold her head up by the next day. She's gettin' fat & sassy now, as that was back in early July.
Ours are free range too, also protected by a very dutiful jack russel terrier and shitzu...lol. Our backyard is completely fenced and the chickens think the dogs are part of their flock...lol."

Pet chickens always taste better after you spend a smooth grand on a worthless vet visit on a feed store hatchery legern mutt, that should have been thrown in the dead bucket to begin with. I am glad for you if that was your intention was to rescue the poor thang. but for those of us realistic chicken folks we don't go that route (EVER), but please give us your Vet's cell number so he can buy us a cold one while he's on his way to the bank. It's just that I feel bad for you that you had to spent good money after bad in these tough economic times on a $2.00 chicken, Good liuck to you.
