It's pouring heavy, wet snow here...and my old flock are out in it regardless.  Guess they don't like living cooped up and have decided to brave the elements.    So far, so good on power here but if the wind picks up later it will all go.  Pretty first snow....I always love the first snow of the year! 

Same here, Bee. We were only supposed to get a couple inches of snow, I woke up to 4 and it's still coming down. Friend asked if I was leaving the chickens locked up now bc of the weather. I said "nope, if it's too cold or windy I trust they'll find their way back to the coop.". If Bee lets hers out, mine are going out too! I did swap out their scuba gear for snowshoes though, in case Bruce was wondering

Bundle up your chickens in mittens and a snowsuit so they don't get too cold before you let them go out and play. You can't be too careful!

On the hawks -
I understand that this time of year is bad for hawks because it's migration time and things should quiet down after the migration. Does anyone know when that intense period of time ends and they have finished migration?

According to this study you are in the belt of migration until December. You can contact them to get more information

Sad thing is, with the market for chicken diapers and saddles, I can't help but think that someone out there is hard at work developing a chicken snowsuit and snowshoes.... If dogs can wear boots, why not chickens? Haha, chicken galoshes! MuckBoot could make a pretty penny if they'd just shrink their famous boots down a few sizes
