Bruce you are so brave! Good job.
I had a possum walk into my kitchen one night and I had to pick it up by the tail and toss him out...do I get my bravery badge too?

I think yes! Dad held one up by the tail for the dog to jump up and snap at one time as he walked it to the back of the field where he then threw it up and shot it out of the air like a clay pigeon. I was mad at him for being mean, but he thought it was hilarious.I had a possum walk into my kitchen one night and I had to pick it up by the tail and toss him out...do I get my bravery badge too?![]()
Hey! Nothin' mean about killing vermin! Now, holding it up to be tormented by dogs, then hurling it 20ft in the air?? That's a little unnecessary. (though, I admit I chuckle when I think back on it)Won't talk about my various and sundry run ins with possums over the years. Most involve the use of a shovel, so I'll leave it that. Don't want to tarnish my stellar reputation as a gentle old guy who'd never hurt a flea. I wouldn't want to be called "mean".
He WAS rank!Only if you washed your hands afterwards.

Thanks! I'll just keep my eyes out on CL then and if I see something I like jump on it. With all my bantams I'm hoping to not have to hatch many on my own.Whatever we can afford.
A big old redwood incubator is tough to beat. But... they're pricey and some need the capacity of doing 100 eggs, some don't. The information on the hatching threads here where the hatch-a-holics are busy at their craft would seem to be as good a place to get information as any.
For the record, I use a Brinsea. I understand the top notch Hova-Bator (not the cheapie) is also very good.
I walked into my coop to lock up one night. Sitting in my feeder was a little baby possum, about the size of a 3 month old kitten. I panicked, and remembered reading somewhere they couldn't reach you to bite if you grabbed their tail so I grabbed it. I then ran, screaming for hubby the whole time, to the house and threw it into the live trap and sprung it. I think that may be one of the bravest things I've ever done, and it was just a little baby. So you for sure get a bravery badge, lol. I have no problem chasing them off, but actually grabbing them? Eek!I had a possum walk into my kitchen one night and I had to pick it up by the tail and toss him out...do I get my bravery badge too?![]()
