i dunno why all my chickens don't go into the coop at dusk. most of them do but there always a few that just want to sleep below their ramp going up to the door. I've got an automatic door with a timer that i went through all the trouble to put together but its useless if i gotta go out there and shoo them in. i can't leave them out at night. its way to dangerous with all the predators up here in the Yukon. Maybe when the weather gets cooler they'll start to go in for the night, i hope.

they'll figure it out eventually. My first batch I had to constantly take inside at night for at least a month or two and now this years batch figured it out in less than a week. As long as you keep putting them in at night, they'll eventually get there. If they learn to stay out, then they won't want to.

Maybe its too crowded in there for some of them too. I'll be processing 32 of the Cornish this weekend probably and that will leave only my 11 layers and two roosters. My coop is 8 by 10 with roosts to the ceiling.
