Hi, I've been raising chickens and ducks for awhile now, about 10 years. I have a lot of different breeds, all mellow breeds. I have some silkies, just because I love them. My oldest one is a rooster named Silver, he's 8. He follows me around and burbles.
I got my guineas and geese about 2 years ago. The geese are Toulouse, which are very large mellow geese. I have 3 geese and 4 ganders. I start all my babies in a bin in my office, so they are handled and socialized a lot before they join the flocks. I can still hug my 30 pound ganders.
I just love watching my birds interact, and they are excited to see me and follow me around to get petted. The guineas are more skittish, even though they been raised with the chickens. I have still been able to pick one up occasionally and pet it. Love this site and reading about everyone's experiences with their birds.
