I'm so excited, I finally got my first set of eggs to hatch!! They came on day 20 and there's still a lot more that are trying to get out.. but my question is this:

We have 12 chicks in a LG incubator and with almost 40 eggs having been in there in the first place it's super crowded. A lot of them hatched earlier this morning but some are still on their way, I don't know how they're all going to fit in there without hurting themselves on that stupid heater.. not to mention I can't keep the temp right because the little rascals keep pushing around the digital therm. and the one that came with it.. so what do I do? Do I keep them in there and hope for the best, or do I take out the dry ones and put them in the brooder? I'm hesitant because I don't want to hurt the chances of the other ones hatching considering they weren't suppose to until tomorrow anyway, lol. Any ideas? I'm fine keeping my hands out of it, I just don't want them to get hurt.. or the temp to get too low or too high because I can't control it much anymore!

Darn, I can't even read the other therm. anymore because the brats tipped it over! Now what? I can't go by the digital because it's waaayyy off!

mine are doing the very same thing!
i think it is called a chicken party!
from the one reply to my post, we have to hold on and hope for the best!

People have posted similiar questions often on this site. The best way to move the hatched (dry) chicks, is to run a hot shower to steam up the bathroom, take incubator in with you (in bathroom NOT shower) and remove the chicks as fast as you can. You can also spray a bit of warm water into the 'bator and close up again as quickly as possible. Put the incubator back, and the chicks in a brooder.Ta dah!!
